Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Activities Coordinator for a temporary position within a care home setting. The successful candidate will be responsible for organising engaging activities that enhance the quality of life for residents, with a focus on fostering social interaction, mental stimulation, and overall wellbeing. Experience in assisted living, nursing home environments, or dementia care is highly desirable. Duties
- Plan, organise, and facilitate a variety of recreational activities tailored to residents’ interests and needs.
- Foster social engagement by encouraging participation in activities and promoting a friendly, inclusive atmosphere.
- Collaborate with care staff to assess residents’ preferences and capabilities to ensure activities are suitable and beneficial.
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation and feedback to inform future activity planning.
- Assist with the setup of activity spaces, ensuring all equipment and materials are safe and appropriate for use.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to residents during activities, ensuring their safety and comfort at all times.
- Stay informed about best practices in senior care and activity programming through ongoing professional development.
Qualifications
- Previous experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or senior care environments is preferred.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with elderly residents and team members.
- Compassionate nature with a genuine interest in enhancing the wellbeing of older adults.
- Organised with the ability to plan engaging activities that cater to diverse needs and abilities.
- Flexibility to adapt activities based on residents’ changing health conditions or preferences.
- Relevant caregiving or activity coordination qualifications are desirable but not essential; enthusiasm for learning is key. Pay: £12.80-£13.75 per hour
