Senior Microsoldering & Motherboard Repair Engineer
About Us
iRepair Clinic is one of Liverpool’s leading independent electronics repair centres. We specialise in advanced board-level repairs for smartphones, tablets, laptops, MacBooks and game consoles. Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced and highly skilled Motherboard Repair Engineer to join our technical team.
This is not a basic repair position. We are looking for someone who is confident working on complex board-level faults and capable of carrying out advanced diagnostics and microsoldering repairs.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair motherboard faults on iPhone, Android phones and tablets.
- Repair MacBook and laptop logic boards.
- Diagnose and repair PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch motherboards.
- Perform advanced microsoldering and component-level repairs.
- Replace ICs, FPC connectors, charging ICs, USB-C ports and other SMD/BGA components.
- Read and understand schematics and boardview diagrams.
- Use professional diagnostic equipment including microscopes, multimeters and DC power supplies.
- Test all repaired devices thoroughly before returning them to customers.
- Maintain a clean, organised and professional repair workspace.
- Work efficiently while maintaining a high standard of workmanship.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of professional motherboard repair experience.
- Excellent microsoldering skills.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic ability.
- Experience reading schematics and boardview software (ZXW, PhoneBoard, OpenBoardView or similar).
- Experience repairing modern and older smartphones.
- Experience repairing tablets, laptops, MacBooks and game consoles.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Good communication skills in English.
- Honest, reliable and hardworking.
Preferred Skills
- Data recovery experience.
- Experience repairing water-damaged devices.
- BGA rework experience.
- Experience with Face ID, Touch ID and charging circuit repairs.

Important
We are looking for a genuine motherboard repair specialist with advanced diagnostic and microsoldering experience.
A practical repair test will be carried out during the interview. Applicants who only have experience replacing screens, batteries or charging ports without board-level repair experience are unlikely to be suitable for this role.
Pay: £13.00-£15.00 per hour
