About the Role
We are looking for a reliable, organised and hardworking Auxiliary/Decontamination Assistant to join our friendly team at Longton Dental Centre.
This is a varied role supporting the smooth running of the practice. A key part of the position will be dental instrument decontamination and infection prevention, alongside general practice support and some administrative duties.
The successful candidate will take pride in their work, have excellent attention to detail, and be comfortable following procedures while working as part of a busy dental team.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out the cleaning, disinfection, inspection, packaging and sterilisation of dental instruments in accordance with practice procedures.
- Follow all infection prevention and control procedures and relevant dental decontamination guidance.
- Maintain accurate decontamination and equipment records.
- Carry out routine checks of decontamination equipment as required and report any issues promptly.
- Ensure processed instruments are correctly packaged, stored and available for clinical use.
- Keep the decontamination area clean, organised and well maintained.
- Monitor stock levels and inform the appropriate person when supplies need replenishing.
- Follow COSHH, health and safety, infection control and waste management procedures.
- Assist with general practice duties to support the clinical and administrative teams.
- Help with the preparation and organisation of surgeries and clinical areas where required.
- Undertake some basic administrative duties, including record keeping and other general office tasks.
- Help with compliance, including supporting the practice's audits and regulatory requirements.
- Provide general support to the practice team as required.
- Maintain confidentiality and follow the practice's policies and procedures at all times.

Experience
Previous experience in a dental, healthcare or decontamination environment would be an advantage but is not essential, as training will be provided for the right person.
A willingness to learn and a positive attitude are more important to us.
