About the role
This is a genuine opportunity to train and qualify as a registered pharmacy technician while you earn. Over two years you will complete a Level 3 apprenticeship with a training provider alongside hands on experience in our busy community pharmacy, leading to registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council on successful completion. It is the recognised route into a skilled, respected and well paid healthcare profession, and the start of a proper career rather than just a job.
About us
Sidley Pharmacy is an independent, family run community pharmacy in Bexhill-on-Sea, and proud winners of Pharmacy Team of the Year for Sussex 2025. We serve our local patients with NHS and private services, and we take training seriously, so you will be supported, taught properly and given real responsibility as you grow into the role. We are not looking to fill a two year placement and wave you off at the end. We want someone who genuinely wants a career in pharmacy and to build their future here with us, and for the right person who delivers, there is a long term place on the team beyond the apprenticeship.
What you will be doing
Working under the supervision of our pharmacists and technicians, you will learn to:
- Dispense and prepare prescriptions accurately, including labelling and final checks
- Manage stock, including ordering, date checking and safe storage of medicines
- Serve patients at the counter, answer everyday queries and help them get the most from their medicines
- Keep accurate records and follow the pharmacy's standard operating procedures
- Support the smooth, safe and clean running of the dispensary day to day
- Follow all safety, confidentiality and governance standards expected in a healthcare setting
Full training is given. You are not expected to know all of this on day one, you are expected to want to learn it.

Previous pharmacy or healthcare experience is welcome but absolutely not required. Enthusiasm and a willingness to learn matter most.
Entry requirements
To be accepted onto the apprenticeship you will usually need four GCSEs at grade 4 (grade C) or above, including maths, English and a science. If you are close to this, apply anyway and we can discuss it.
Apprenticeship eligibility
To qualify for this apprenticeship you must have lived in the UK for the past three years and have the right to work in the UK for the full two years of the programme. The role is subject to a satisfactory DBS check.
Hours, pay and training
- Minimum 30 hours per week, worked on a rota across our opening hours Monday to Saturday, with the potential to increase
- £9.00 per hour to start, rising in your second year in line with your age and progress
- Two year fixed term apprenticeship contract
- Your six hours per week of protected study time is paid and takes place on site, not from home
