Diamond Health & Safety are seeking experienced Health & Safety Consultants* to support the delivery of assurance services across large-scale construction projects.
This is not a traditional site-based safety role. You will act as an independent assurance consultant, overseeing and assessing the health and safety performance of contractors, vendors, and project stakeholders.
You will operate across complex, fast-paced environments, including new build developments, high-value infrastructure projects, and live operational sites, ensuring that health and safety standards are consistently implemented and maintained.
Construction Phase
- Conduct regular health & safety assurance inspections and audits
- Monitor contractor performance against required standards and expectations
- Raise, track, and manage safety actions through project systems
- Ensure timely close-out of actions with appropriate supporting evidence
Incident & Risk Management
- Ensure all incidents, near misses, and safety events are properly reported
- Support and review incident investigations and root cause analysis
- Identify trends and proactively escalate emerging risk
Stakeholder Management
- Liaise with project teams, principal contractors, and supply chain partners
- Lead regular health & safety meetings and coordinate communication across stakeholders
- Provide clear, concise updates on risks, issues, and performance
Live Environment & High-Risk Activities
- Manage interfaces between construction activities and live operational environments
- Oversee high-risk operations and permit systems
- Ensure safe coordination between multiple contractors and stakeholders
Reporting & Systems
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records within project reporting systems
- Ensure all deliverables are completed on time and to a high standard
- Monitor site data including workforce numbers, hours worked, and safety metrics
Continuous Improvement
- Contribute to lessons learned and continuous improvement processes
- Identify opportunities to enhance safety performance and project delivery
- Support development of best practice across multiple projects
Requirements
- Minimum 7+ years’ experience in construction health & safety
- Proven experience on large-scale or complex construction projects
- Experience working within live or operational environments (highly desirable)
Qualifications
- NEBOSH General / Construction Certificate (minimum)
- NVQ Level 6 / NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent (preferred)
- IOSH membership (minimum) / CMIOSH (preferred)
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of construction risk management
- Experience reviewing RAMS and H&S documentation
- Experience using digital reporting systems
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
