Early Years Teaching Assistant
Sense Education are recruiting on behalf of a specialist inclusive school in Leeds. They are seeking an Early Years Teaching Assistant to join their team and make a meaningful difference right away.
This setting supports young children with a range of additional needs, placing communication, emotional security and curiosity at the heart of everything they do. The team is nurturing, reflective and deeply committed to helping every child feel safe, understood and capable of success – however that looks for them.
The role:
You’ll be supporting pupils in the Early Years phase, helping to create a calm, engaging environment where learning is led by the child and shaped around their individual needs. This may include supporting communication, play-based learning, sensory regulation and early independence, always working alongside experienced teachers and professionals.
We’re looking for someone who:
· Brings patience, warmth and emotional intelligence into the classroom
· Understands that progress looks different for every child
· Can start immediately or at short notice
· Values teamwork, consistency and child-led practice
· Doesn’t mind getting their hands dirty while engaging in messy play
Qualifications & Requirements:
· Minimum qualifications required – A recognised Teaching Assistant qualification or a background in education or care (NVQ, CACHE, Degree or equivalent)
· Experience supporting children with SEND
· Passionate working with young children or adults with disabilities

Role Type: Full Time/ Part Time/ Temp-Perm
Pay Rate: £14.60 - £16.90 per hour
Working hours
Monday – Friday
8.30am – 3.30pm
This role would suit someone who is passionate about inclusive early education and wants to be part of a team where relationships and understanding come first.
Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
Pay: £14.60-£16.90 per hour
