Job description:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Sous Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for food, and extensive kitchen experience. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the creation of exceptional dishes while overseeing daily kitchen operations. The successful applicant will be responsible for supporting the Head Chef in maintaining high standards of food quality, safety, and service. Previous supervisory experience and a background in food production are essential for this position.
Duties
- Assist the Head Chef in planning and preparing menus that meet quality standards and customer expectations
- Supervise and manage kitchen staff, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to health and safety regulations
- Prepare, cook, and present high-quality dishes in accordance with company recipes and standards.
- Ensure consistency in food quality, taste, and presentation.
- Monitor inventory levels, order supplies, and manage stock rotation to minimise waste
- Ensure compliance with food safety standards and maintain cleanliness throughout the kitchen area
- Train new staff members in food preparation techniques, safety procedures, and service standards
- Collaborate with front-of-house teams to ensure seamless service delivery
- Assist in developing new recipes and menu items to enhance the dining experience
- Deal promptly with kitchen issues and ensure smooth service during busy periods.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised kitchen environment.
Skills
- Supervising experience within a professional kitchen environment
- Knowledge of food production, preparation, and cooking techniques
- Team management skills with the ability to motivate staff
- Solid understanding of food safety regulations and best practices
- Experience in restaurant or hospitality settings with a focus on high-quality service
- Good communication skills to coordinate effectively with team members and management
Qualifications
- Level 2 Food Safety & Hygiene Certificate (preferred).
- Relevant culinary qualifications or equivalent practical experience.
