We are recruiting a practical Mechanical Assembly Technician for an established precision engineering manufacturer based at the Advanced Manufacturing Park in Rotherham.
The position involves the mechanical assembly of precision components and products for the oil and gas sector. Candidates should be comfortable following drawings, assembly instructions and defined quality processes.
Key responsibilities:
- Mechanically assemble components and sub-assemblies
- Work from engineering drawings, assembly instructions and bills of materials
- Select and use appropriate hand tools and assembly equipment
- Check components before assembly
- Confirm that parts, quantities and identification are correct
- Complete assembly work accurately and to the required quality standards
- Carry out basic visual and dimensional checks
- Report damaged, incorrect or non-conforming components
- Maintain clear job records and component traceability
- Handle high-value engineered components carefully
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe working area
- Work with machining, inspection and production colleagues to meet deadlines
The successful candidate will have:
- Previous mechanical assembly, fitting, production or engineering experience
- The ability to follow drawings and written instructions
- Confidence using common hand tools
- Basic measuring or inspection experience
- Good manual dexterity and attention to detail
- A reliable and safety-conscious approach
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
Experience assembling precision-machined components or working within the oil and gas, subsea, valve or pressure-control sectors would be advantageous.
Hours:
- Monday to Thursday: 7:00am–4:00pm
- Friday: Minimum four hours from 7:00am
- 39-hour standard working week
- Flexibility to work additional hours Monday to Thursday and finish earlier on Friday
Pay and benefits:
- £12.83 per hour
- Overtime above 39 hours paid at 1.3 times the standard rate
- Saturday overtime paid at 1.5 times the standard rate
- Monthly profit-sharing bonus after the qualifying period
