Overview of role
Are you an experienced Warehouse Manager looking to play a key role within the rail sector? We are seeking a motivated leader to oversee our warehouse and stores operation, ensuring the timely and efficient management of materials that support vital rail infrastructure and engineering projects.
Managing a team of 2 Supervisors and 8 Operatives, you will be responsible for driving performance, improving operational efficiency and fostering a strong safety-first culture. Using Lean principles and continuous improvement techniques, you will ensure the warehouse delivers outstanding service levels while meeting business requirements for quality, cost and delivery.
Key Accountabilities
Ensure all relevant Health and Safety requirements are adhered to, including all environmental issues & waste disposal to support zero LTI's and zero EIRF
Maximise availability of material whilst minimising stock levels and maintaining high levels of accuracy
Prioritise the reduction of nil stocks in demand and production stopped awaiting material.
Plan and implement improvements to Warehouse to support Materials Management target achievement
Reduce waste involved in ‘picking’ times by optimising local procedures and stores layout
Lead development of, and train staff in, critical activity plans for daily/weekly key activities
Develop, implement and maintain accurate Warehouse document control to satisfy audit criteria
Support initiatives to improve performance of internal suppliers in all aspects of the business
Embrace new technology to further improve stock control
Manage repairable material to ensure float is visible & traceable throughout the supply chain
Manage the input & output of the forecast to ensure the AMP is achieved & to drive discrepancies back to the planning teams for resolution
Lead, manage and develop the stores staff.

Knowledge
Extensive knowledge of Warehouse management, warehouse processes and storage media relevant to railway operations and their maintenance. This includes knowledge of good practice in other transport administrations. (Essential)
Knowledge of the effective use of commonly available office applications. (Desirable)
Lean process improvement methodology to ensure maximum productivity is achieved. (Desirable)
Knowledge of Loler regulations experience in identifying risks, allocating risk scores and mitigations for risk assessments. (Essential)
Knowledge of railway engineering principles, practice and standards (Essential)
Experience in quantitative data analysis to identify trends in material usage (Desirable)
Experience
Experienced in Warehouse management and the development of these management arrangements, including standards for Warehouse management required for railway services. (Essential)
Experience of materials/asset management systems such as SAP, skilled in the use of other standard software packages including Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Access/Visio and relevant industry software. (Essential)
Well developed communication and partnership building experience, and proven track record in achieving required outcomes in hostile and conflicting situations with tact, diplomacy and sensitivity. (Essential)
Strong analytical and problem-solving experience (Desirable)
Experience and knowledge in operating warranty systems (Desirable)
