Screen Printer

Job Purpose
To produce high-quality printed products using manual and semi-automatic screen printing equipment, ensuring all work meets customer specifications, company quality standards and production deadlines.
The successful candidate will work across a range of printed products including industrial nameplates, labels, decals, signs and bespoke printed components for customers within sectors including aerospace, automotive and manufacturing. Rudd Macnamara prints onto a wide range of metal and plastic substrates using semi-automatic screen printing equipment and maintains AS9100 and ISO9001 quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Screen Printing
- Set up manual and semi-automatic screen printing machines.
- Prepare screens, inks and substrates ready for production.
- Mix inks to customer specifications and colour requirements.
- Print onto a variety of materials including:
- Aluminium
- Stainless Steel
- Brass
- Polycarbonate
- Polyester
- Vinyl
- Other plastic substrates
- Ensure correct registration and colour accuracy.
- Carry out print runs efficiently whilst maintaining quality standards.
- Complete first-off inspections before commencing production.
Quality
- Inspect printed products throughout production.
- Ensure all work meets customer drawings and specifications.
- Identify print defects including:
- Mis-registration
- Colour variation
- Ink contamination
- Smudging
- Pinholes
- Poor adhesion
- Complete quality documentation where required.
- Report quality concerns immediately.
- Support AS9100 and ISO9001 quality systems.
Production
- Meet daily production targets.
- Prioritise work in accordance with production schedules.
- Assist with changeovers between jobs.
- Clean screens and equipment following each production run.
- Minimise waste and maximise efficiency.
- Assist with continuous improvement activities.
Health & Safety
- Work safely at all times.
- Wear required PPE.
- Follow COSHH requirements when handling inks, solvents and cleaning chemicals.
- Maintain a clean and organised working area using 5S principles.
- Report hazards, accidents and near misses immediately.
- Follow all company Health & Safety procedures.
Teamwork
- Work closely with colleagues across Production, Quality and Planning.
- Support and train colleagues where appropriate.
- Maintain excellent housekeeping standards.
- Promote a positive team environment.
- Demonstrate flexibility to support other departments when required.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Previous experience within screen printing or print production.
- Good attention to detail.
- Excellent colour recognition.
- Ability to read production paperwork and work instructions.
- Good manual dexterity.
- Ability to work accurately under pressure.

- Good communication skills.
- Reliable and punctual.
Desirable
- Experience operating semi-automatic screen printing machines.
- Experience within industrial screen printing.
- Experience printing onto metal and plastic substrates.
- Knowledge of quality systems.
- Experience within aerospace or manufacturing environments.
- Understanding of colour matching.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.

Physical Requirements
This role involves:

Working Hours
- Monday to Thursday 7.30am- 430pm
- Friday 7.30am-11.30am
