Job Overview
Daytime server needed to work in a small totnes town cafe, serving customers on a till and preparing various hot and cold drinks throughout the day, also clearing tables and using a dishwasher you will be either opening up or closing down, so some work is unguided, totnes is a vibrant inclusive devon town, that is a pleasure to visit and work in. shifts are flexible and the successful applicant will need to have a happy smiley outlook that enjoys being customer facing.
Duties
- Greet guests warmly and provide attentive service throughout their visit
- Take accurate food and beverage orders using POS systems
- Serve food and drinks promptly while maintaining presentation standards
- Ensure guest satisfaction by checking in regularly and addressing any needs or concerns
- Upsell menu items to maximise sales opportunities while respecting guest preferences
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of tables, service stations, and dining areas
- Follow food safety protocols and hygiene standards at all times
- Assist with food preparation or kitchen duties as required, adhering to health regulations
- Handle cash or card transactions accurately and efficiently
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth service flow during busy periods
Experience
- Previous experience in hospitality, restaurant service, or similar roles is advantageous but not mandatory
- Knowledge of food safety standards and basic food preparation techniques is preferred
- Familiarity with serving procedures, upselling strategies, and guest services enhances performance
- Ability to manage time effectively during busy shifts and prioritise tasks accordingly
- Basic maths skills for handling bills and transactions are essential
- Experience working in a kitchen environment or culinary background is a plus but not required
