This is a customer-facing security role where you’ll play a key part in keeping venues and events safe, welcoming, and well managed. If you’re confident, calm under pressure, and able to deal with people professionally, we want to hear from you.
As a Door Supervisor, you will be a visible presence and the first point of contact for guests, customers, and staff. You’ll support entry procedures, maintain order, and respond appropriately to any incidents. You’ll be expected to follow site instructions, work closely with supervisors and venue management, and uphold high standards of service while remaining firm and professional when needed.

interviews will be held on the 7th/8th of July with both our management and the client
Pay & shifts:
This role pays £14:00 per hour. Shifts are flexible and may include evenings, nights, weekends, and bank holidays depending on venue/event requirements.
Key responsibilities will include: maintaining a professional and approachable presence at entry points, monitoring arrivals and departures, and ensuring access is controlled correctly. You’ll support queue management and help maintain a smooth, safe flow of people into and out of the venue or site. You may be required to conduct search procedures in line with policy (where applicable), check identification, and ensure compliance with venue rules and licensing conditions.
You will be expected to carry out regular patrols and security checks of internal and external areas, identify hazards, and report concerns promptly. You will monitor behaviour and intervene early where appropriate to prevent issues escalating. If incidents occur, you will respond calmly and proportionately—de-escalating conflict, following procedures, and contacting emergency services or management where required. Clear communication, accurate reporting, and professional handovers are essential parts of the role.
Essential requirements: you must hold a valid SIA Door Supervisor licence. You must be well presented, reliable, and punctual, with strong communication skills and the confidence to challenge inappropriate behaviour professionally. You must be able to work as part of a team, follow instructions, and remain calm in busy environments. Previous experience in licensed venues, events, retail security, or customer service is preferred, but not essential if you have the right attitude and professionalism.
What you can expect from VGM: consistent support from our management team, clear instructions for each assignment, and opportunities for ongoing work across Colchester and surrounding areas as we continue to grow.
To apply: please send your CV and confirm your SIA Door Supervisor licence details (type and expiry date). If you have relevant experience (venues/events, conflict management, searches, crowd control), include a short summary in your application.
