Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable individual to join our team as a Nursery Cook. The position is Monday - Friday, hours are a minimum 3.5 per day and may vary between 8.30am and 1pm, all year. The successful candidate will be responsible for the preparation of fresh home cooked meals for approximately 30-40 children daily, ensuring food safety standards are met. Previous experience in food preparation is preferred but not essential, as training will be provided.
Duties
- Assist in preparing ingredients and cooking a variety of dishes according to established recipes and standards
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including washing utensils and equipment
- Follow food safety and hygiene regulations diligently to uphold health standards
- Help with stock control by monitoring inventory levels and preparing shopping lists
- Support the team in meal assembly, plating, and presentation including consideration to cross contamination for allergies and intolerances and special dietary needs
- To include some light cleaning and laundry duties
Skills
- Experience in food preparation, cooking, or kitchen environments is desirable.
- Level 2 Food Safety & Hygiene must be completed.
- Food Allergy Awareness training will be provided
- Knowledge of culinary techniques and meal preparation methods
- Familiarity with food safety standards and hygiene practices
- Ability to work efficiently
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills, as you will be expected to work with families to provide advise and support regarding healthy meals and allergies.
As this role is within a Children's Nursery an enhanced DBS check will be required. All applicants should demonstrate enthusiasm for food service, a commitment to maintaining high standards, and a positive attitude towards learning.
Pay: £12.71 per hour
