Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Health & Safety Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations on construction sites, identifying potential hazards, and implementing measures to minimize risks. This role is critical in promoting a culture of safety and ensuring the well-being of all personnel on-site.
Responsibilities
- Safety Compliance: Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal health and safety regulations on construction sites.
- Risk Assessment: Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Incident Management: Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, and prepare detailed reports with recommendations for preventive measures.
- Training: Develop and deliver health and safety training programs for employees, contractors, and site visitors.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of safety audits, risk assessments, training sessions, and incident reports.
- Emergency Preparedness: Establish and test emergency response plans and procedures.
- Policy Development: Develop, update, and implement health and safety policies and procedures tailored to construction activities.
- Communication: Act as the primary point of contact for health and safety concerns and liaise with regulatory authorities when necessary.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Ensure all personnel are equipped with and using the appropriate PPE.
- Collaborate with management to promote a proactive approach to workplace safety.
- Stay updated on industry best practices and changes in health and safety legislation.
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Health and Safety Officer, preferably in the construction industry.
- Strong understanding of construction site operations, health and safety legislation, and industry best practices.
- Experience in conducting risk assessments and implementing effective control measures.
- Proficiency in report writing with the ability to communicate findings clearly.
- First aid certification is highly desirable; additional qualifications in health and safety (such as NEBOSH or IOSH) would be an advantage.
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively engage with employees at all levels.
