Job Title: Lead Driller
Reports to: Service Manager
Responsible for: Water well drilling activities.
Job Profile
The Lead Driller should specialise in establishing new water supplies by using our modern Drilling equipment and methods to Drill Boreholes through to turnkey completion to provide a sustainable safe water supply for our customer. These activities are to be carried out in a safe, timely, courteous and professional manner.
Actively contribute to improve working standards, quality of service and safe working practices.
Key Tasks
1. Operation and maintenance of rotary drill rig and compressor
2. Keeping accurate drilling logs
3. Oversee equipment loading/unloading and mobilisation to site
4. Be willing to work away and stay overnight when required.
5. Be self-motivated and able to work unsupervised and maintain a high standard of workmanship.
6. Adhere to our Health and Safety Policies and site working requirements.
7. Job preparation between jobs, restocking and loading Drilling materials.
- Drilling equipment clean down after jobs and thorough clean up between jobs so the equipment is safe to transport and presentable always.
9. Survey each site and update a risk assessment of the site hazards.
10. Arc Welding of steel casings sections

1. Annual appraisal by Line Manager.
2. Flexibility within the job role with requests for assistance within the business.
3. Attitude to work instruction and completing the task timeously.
4. Attitude towards working with colleagues and the needs of company.
5. Taking and acting on instruction from Supervisor or others.
6. Professionalism to clients and company.
Key Skills
· Valid CSCS card
· Full UK Diving License and ability to tow.
· Level 2 NVQ in Land Drilling – Lead Driller
· Experience with drilling in the UK on water wells including geology understanding.
· Good communication, organisational and supervisory skills.
- Adhere to our QHSE procedures.
· Paid travel hours to be agreed to cover time from home address to site and return at the end of the week
· Flexible working hours on a Monday/Friday to enable travel to/from home however 40 hours will need to be worked through the course of the week before any overtime is paid
