About the Role
Treo Recruitment is proud to be supporting a growing and well-established IT services provider in their search for an experienced ICT Support Technician / Field Engineer.
Our client delivers high-quality IT support and digital transformation projects, with a strong focus on the education sector. Due to continued growth, they are looking to expand their technical team with an experienced IT professional who has previously worked within an education setting.
This is a field-based role, supporting a portfolio of primary and secondary schools across Leeds, Bradford and York. You will be responsible for providing hands-on, on-site technical support while working closely with a central Service Desk team to ensure issues are resolved efficiently and to a high standard.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys a varied role, working across multiple sites and building strong relationships with school staff.
Key Responsibilities
As an ICT Support Technician / Field Engineer, you will:
- Provide on-site IT support across primary and secondary schools in Leeds, Bradford and York.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software and network issues.
- Install, configure and maintain IT hardware, servers and network infrastructure.
- Support Windows 10 and Windows 11 environments and end-user devices.
- Support and maintain Windows Server environments.
- Work with Active Directory, DNS and DHCP.
- Support LAN/WAN networks and associated infrastructure.
- Support Microsoft Office and Microsoft 365 applications.
- Support cloud-based systems and backup solutions.
- Provide support for school MIS and finance systems.
- Maintain and troubleshoot interactive whiteboards, classroom AV and other educational technology.
- Work closely with the central Service Desk to manage and resolve support tickets.
- Ensure issues are resolved efficiently and in line with agreed SLAs.
- Assist with IT installations, upgrades, migrations and rollout projects.
- Build positive working relationships with teaching staff, support staff and school leadership teams.
- Maintain a high level of customer service at all times.
Essential Skills & Experience
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- Previous experience working in an IT support role within an education setting.
- Experience supporting primary schools, secondary schools or other educational environments.
- A minimum of 3 years' experience in IT Support, ICT Technician, Field Engineer, Helpdesk or a similar technical role.
- Strong knowledge of Windows 10 and Windows 11 deployment and troubleshooting.
- Experience with Windows Server.
- Knowledge of Active Directory, DNS and DHCP.
- A good understanding of LAN/WAN networking.
- Experience supporting Microsoft Office and Microsoft 365.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- The ability to work independently across multiple sites.
- A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
Desirable Skills
Experience with any of the following would be advantageous:
- School MIS systems, including SIMS or Arbor.
- School finance systems.
- Interactive whiteboards and classroom technology.
- Audio visual equipment.
- Cloud-based technologies.
- IT installations and large-scale rollout projects.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 GCSEs, including Maths and English.
- Level 3 IT qualification, IT apprenticeship or equivalent experience.
