We partner directly with Local Authorities across the UK to deliver high-quality, impactful interventions for children in need, child protection cases, and children in care. We are currently expanding our multidisciplinary team.
The Role
We are seeking a passionate, fully qualified, and registered Art Therapist or Music Therapist to deliver specialised creative therapeutic interventions for children and young people. The service users have often experienced early childhood trauma, neglect, or attachment difficulties and require focused, clinical support to process complex emotions and build psychological resilience.
This is a freelance/associate position starting immediately, with sessions delivered locally within the Staffordshire community.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, trauma-informed Art or Music Therapy sessions tailored to the individual needs of children and young people.
- Establish a safe, secure, and containing therapeutic environment.
- Work collaboratively with allocated local authority social workers, foster carers, and adoptive parents.
- Maintain meticulous, professional clinical notes in line with social care and professional body expectations.
- Provide clear, concise therapeutic progress reports for local authority commissioning reviews.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- A recognised undergraduate or postgraduate qualification in Art Therapy or Music Therapy.
- Mandatory active registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Active professional membership with a relevant body (such as BAAT or BAMT).
- Proven experience working therapeutically with traumatized, looked-after, or adopted children.
- A deep understanding of developmental trauma, attachment theory, and safe safeguarding practices.
- An active Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or willingness to undergo one immediately).
- Possession of professional indemnity insurance.
