About Us
We are third generation family-run business looking for a new recruit to become part of our friendly team. Situated on the Kingsnorth Industrial Estate, Ashford, we operate from our 30,000 sqft of modern equipped factory premises with more than 40 full-time members of staff. We are a manuafacturer of flat glass products typically used in building and construction. This can include items such as insulated sealed units, glass screens, doors and shelving, mirrors, glass spashbacks and whitboards, floors and barriers.

The Opportunity
We are currently have an opportunity for a new recruit to join our team as a Factory operative. We are seeking applicants that enjoy a hands-on role and taking on a variety of tasks throughout each shift. The sucesful applicat will enjoy a challenging, multi-skilled role that requires attention to detail and working precisely. No two jobs are often the same.
Duties can include but would would not be limited to;
- General machine operation, loading and unloading semi-automated machinery with glass items
- Cutting and shaping glass to works instructions
- Pre-assembly and final sealing of insulated units
- Using automated snadblaster
- Hand-finishing. Including, final clean and inspection, applying tapes and transportation packaging.
Essential qualities must include:
- A friendly and positive approach to work
- Self-motivated and reliable with excellent time-keeping and attendance
- Able to work well as part of a small team.
- Capable of accepting and carrying out instructions when asked
- Own initiative
- Able to adhere to a smoking policy
- Be physically capable of manual handling alone or as part of a team
Duties may not be limited to the outlined position. Other duties can include assisting other employees in their duties to ensure production targets are met.
Applicants will need a strong understanding of sizes (using tape measure) and manual handling techniques whilst adhering to PPE requirements at all times. Training will be provided on the job and is progressive with time and ability. Previous experience is a strong advantage but not essential.
Job Requirements:
- Work accurately to documented works instructions
- Full-time Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm. (42.5 hour week).
(However we're happy to consider part-time applications and splitting the shift to 20-25 hours a week to the right applicant)
- Maintain a safe working environment
- Be willing to learn and develop new skills
- Manage workloads
Previous experience is a strong advantage, but not essential. Rates of pay are dependant previous on experience and qualifications achieved and are also progressive with training and milestones achieved.
