Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled MOT Tester to join our automotive service team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting vehicle safety inspections in accordance with legal requirements and industry standards. The MOT Tester will play a vital part in ensuring vehicles meet safety and environmental standards before they are driven on the road.
Duties
- Conduct comprehensive MOT tests on a variety of vehicle makes and models, ensuring compliance with current legislation.
- Perform pre-test inspections to identify potential issues that may affect the vehicle’s pass status.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment to carry out testing procedures efficiently and accurately.
- Record detailed inspection results, prepare reports, and communicate findings clearly to customers.
- Assist with minor repairs or adjustments if necessary to facilitate passing the MOT test.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organisation of the testing bay and tools to uphold health and safety standards.
- Ensure all testing equipment is calibrated and maintained according to manufacturer specifications.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as an MOT Tester or in a similar automotive diagnostic role.
- Mechanical knowledge of vehicle systems, including brakes, suspension, exhausts, and lighting.
- Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when handling vehicle components or equipment safely.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational skills.
- Valid MOT Tester qualification recognised by the DVSA (Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency).
- Good communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to customers.
