At ANW we are seeking a dynamic and versatile Multi Skilled Operative to join our team, bringing a proactive approach to a variety of construction and maintenance tasks. As a Multi Skilled Operative, you will be instrumental in delivering high-quality workmanship across diverse projects, ensuring safety, efficiency, and excellence at every stage. Your expertise will help us maintain and improve social housing properties and void properties, execute repairs, and contribute to refurbishment initiatives with confidence and precision.
Responsibilities
- Perform carpentry tasks such as framing, door hanging, window installation, and general woodwork repairs.
- Conduct roofing work including minor repairs, guttering, and waterproofing to ensure structural integrity.
- Carry out construction painting to prepare surfaces and deliver clean, professional finishes.
- Install and repair plumbing systems, fixtures, and piping with attention to safety standards.
- Execute masonry work including bricklaying, blockwork, and concrete repairs to support building stability.
- Use welding techniques for metal fabrication, repairs, or assembly as required on-site.
- Handle electrical tasks such as installing lighting fixtures or troubleshooting basic electrical issues (where qualified).
- Operate hand tools and power tools safely for various tasks across trades.
- Fabricate custom components or modifications using appropriate materials and techniques.
- Collaborate with team members to plan workflows, prioritize tasks, and ensure project deadlines are met efficiently.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to health and safety regulations at all times.
Experience
- Proven experience working across multiple trades such as carpentry, roofing, plumbing, masonry, welding, or electrical work.
- Demonstrable ability to operate hand tools and power tools confidently and safely.
- Experience in construction painting or finishing work is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of fabrication processes for custom parts or structural modifications.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt quickly to changing project requirements.
- Excellent communication skills for effective teamwork and reporting on progress or issues.
- Relevant certifications in trades such as carpentry, roofing, plumbing or electrical work are advantageous but not mandatory if experience is substantial.
