Overview
PURPOSE OF ROLE:
London Mithraeum Bloomberg SPACE is a lively cultural hub which showcases the reconstructed remains of a Roman temple, hundreds of Roman artefacts, and a contemporary art gallery.
We are seeking a customer-focused Museum Host to provide an exceptional visitor experience and to assist in the daily operations of the museum. The Museum Host will be responsible for welcoming and engaging visitors, providing information about exhibits, ensuring visitor safety and security, and contributing to a positive and enriching environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Visitor Engagement:
Greet visitors warmly upon arrival and provide them with an overview of the museum and its exhibits.
Answer enquiries and provide detailed information about the museum's collection, history, and temporary exhibitions.
Conduct guided tours of museum to a variety of groups, such as school groups, employees and stakeholders
Assist with education sessions for schools, family engagement events and evening receptions and events
Assist visitors with any queries, concerns, or special requests to ensure a pleasant and comfortable visit.
Provide guidance on visitor routes, amenities, accessibility options and facilities within the museum.
Safety and Security:
Monitor visitor traffic and maintain a safe and secure environment within the museum.
Be prepared to address emergencies, follow safety protocols, and assist with evacuations if necessary.
Responsible for opening and closing the cultural London Mithraeum Bloomberg SPACE daily, completing daily security checks.
Exhibit Maintenance:
Ensure that the London Mithraeum Bloomberg SPACE and exhibits are maintained to a high standard of presentation throughout the day and report any damages or issues to the appropriate museum staff.
Ensure all AV elements of the cultural London Mithraeum Bloomberg SPACE are working appropriately, reporting any issues to the relevant support teams
Ticketing and Admissions:
Use the ticketing system confidently to ensure compliance with ticketing procedures and accurately account for all visits
Process tickets, and walk-in visitors, accurately and efficiently.
Collaboration and Teamwork:
Work collaboratively with other museum and building staff, such as security, facilities management, catering and events to ensure smooth daily operations and exceptional visitor experiences.
Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and special events as required.
The role is a roving position, working throughout the museum. This role requires some evening and weekend work.
Qualifications:
- GCSE certificate in English Language or Literature, or equivalent
- A valid SIA DS Licence
Experience:
- Experience (one year minimum)
- Knowledge or interest in art, history, or cultural heritage
- Previous experience in customer service, hospitality, or a museum setting
- Previous security officer experience
- Proficient in using ticketing or point-of-sale systems
