Administrative Assistant (Maternity Cover)
Part-Time, Fixed-Term basis from 1st September 2026 – 23rd July 2027
30 Hours per Week, Monday-Friday, 9am-3.30pm
Term-Time Only Plus 5 INSET Days (45.05 paid weeks per annum)
Salary: Grade 4, SCP 6-7 - £25,989 - £26,403 per annum pro rata (pay award pending)
Actual salary: £18,205.72 - £18,495.73 per annum (pay award pending)
Job Overview
We are seeking a proactive and organised Administrative Assistant to provide essential support during a maternity cover period. The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining smooth office operations, managing correspondence, and assisting with various administrative tasks. Duties
- Managing incoming and outgoing correspondence via email, post, and phone calls with professional phone etiquette
- Organising and maintaining pupil files, records, and documentation in both physical and digital formats
- Data entry and updating information accurately using Microsoft Office, Excel and Bromcom MIS
- Scheduling appointments, meetings, and managing calendars efficiently
- Supporting team members with administrative tasks to ensure operational efficiency
- Handling general clerical duties such as photocopying, scanning, and ordering office supplies
- Managing school trips and chasing payments from parents
- Managing daily attendance and registers
Experience
- Proven office experience or administrative experience in a professional setting
- Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Familiarity with Bromcom or other MIS systems is desirable
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
- Good typing speed and data entry accuracy
- Demonstrated ability to communicate professionally via phone and email
- Experience with clerical tasks such as filing, record keeping, and document management
- Experience within an education environment is desirable but not essential
