Do you enjoy connecting people with the support they need? Are you organised, confident using digital tools, and passionate about improving mental health and wellbeing in your community?
We're looking for a Digital Mapping Volunteer to help maintain and develop our Community Mental Health Support Map across Derbyshire. This valuable resource helps people find local services, activities and support, making it easier for individuals to access the help they need when they need it most.
About the opportunity
As a Digital Mapping Volunteer, you'll play an important part in keeping our Community Mental Health Support Map accurate, up to date and accessible. Working alongside our Derbyshire Recovery and Peer Support Service team, you'll help connect people to community-based support that can make a real difference to their wellbeing.
This is a flexible volunteer opportunity that can be carried out from home, in the community or from one of our office locations.
What you'll be doing
- Liaising with staff, organisations and community groups to gather and update information.
- Managing enquiries sent to the map inbox.
- Processing data requests and updating the online mapping system.
- Building relationships with local services to identify changes and new support opportunities.
- Contributing ideas to improve and expand the mapping service.
- Researching collaborations and opportunities that could enhance the project.
What we're looking for
You don't need previous volunteering experience. We're looking for people who are:
- Excellent communicators.
- Organised and reliable.
- Comfortable using IT systems and online tools.
- Familiar with Google Maps.
- Able to work with people from all backgrounds in a respectful and non-judgemental way.
- Aware of the importance of confidentiality.
- Enthusiastic about working as part of a team.
It would also be helpful, but isn't essential, if you have:
- Knowledge of local services or the mental health sector.
- Lived experience of mental illness.
What you'll gain
Volunteering with Rethink Mental Illness is a chance to make a meaningful difference while developing your own skills and confidence. Benefits include:
- Developing new skills and experience.
- Enhancing your CV and employability.
- Meeting new people and growing your confidence.
- Access to training and ongoing support.
- Reimbursement of agreed out-of-pocket expenses.
- A reference for future opportunities.
- The opportunity to positively impact your own wellbeing and the lives of others.

We'll provide a full induction, essential training and ongoing support throughout your volunteering journey. You'll receive regular reflection and support sessions with your Volunteer Manager, helping you get the most from your experience.
