We are seeking a motivated and collaborative individual to join our team as a Laboratory Manager to oversee the operational, technical and regulatory management of a large and growing multidisciplinary research laboratory. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the delivery of world-leading cardiovascular and neurovascular research by leading laboratory operations, supporting researchers at all career stages, and ensuring the safe, efficient and compliant running of a complex research environment. You will play a central role in enabling high-quality research through effective management of facilities, equipment, technical staff, budgets and laboratory processes, within a dynamic and inclusive environment.
You will be responsible for:

Leading the day-to-day management of laboratory operations, ensuring facilities, equipment and resources are maintained and operated effectively.

Managing laboratory compliance, health and safety, risk management and regulatory requirements, acting as the first point of contact for laboratory-related issues.

Line managing, developing and supporting a team of technical staff, including recruitment, induction, training and performance management.

Leading purchasing activities, monitoring expenditure and contributing to budget planning across multiple research programmes.

Developing and implementing systems, processes and ways of working that support operational excellence and continuous improvement across the research group.

Essential Criteria:

Degree-level qualification (or equivalent experience) in a biological science discipline, together with substantial experience supporting research laboratories.

Significant experience of laboratory governance, health and safety management, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance, including relevant legislation and best practice.

Experience establishing, managing and maintaining research facilities and laboratory equipment, including implementation of operational processes and procedures.

Proven experience managing technical staff, supporting professional development and fostering high-performing teams.

Excellent organisational, communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to lead multiple priorities and deliver outcomes with minimal supervision.
Desirable Criteria:

Previous experience working in a technical laboratory role.
