Boland Marine Ltd is an exciting new startup redefining modern boatbuilding in the UK. With active projects across Boland Marine and its sister brand Nyala Boats, the business is rapidly establishing itself as one of the most dynamic emerging names in the marine industry
Responsibilities
The Boat Builder will be responsible for:
- Managing own workload and completing tasks within the given timeframes.
- Building plugs using a mixture of CNC machining (no previous experience required, all training will be provided) and power/hand tools to fabrication drawings, ensuring dimensions are maintained within given tolerances.
- Making moulds from the plugs.
- Laminating composite components from hulls and decks to small mouldings.
- Supervising and mentoring junior members of the team.
- Working with the Design Office to capture as built data and improve vessel designs.
- Trimming and finishing mouldings, including gel coat repairs.
- Fitting out vessel, including installing mouldings, skinfittings, hoses and some cross over into specialist areas such as engine and electrical installation.
- Defect Rectification for vessels in build.
- Supervising & instructing boat building apprentices
The candidate will be required to follow Boland Marine Ltd Health and Safety policies and attend familiarisation and training before using power or sharp hand tools.
Further work involved in the business can include vessel repairs and refits.
Furthermore, there is scope for candidates to attend Sea Trials and gain experience on vessels on the water. Further training such as Sea Survival, and other such courses deemed necessary by Boland Marine Ltd to fulfil the role or undertake further roles such as attending sea trials, may be required.
Pre-requisites
- Relevant boat building qualifiactions (e.g apprenticeship or completed courses at the IBTC)
- Min 5 years experience in boat building
