An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Oral Health Improvement Practitioner to join the Designed to Smile Team in Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board.
You will be based at Ynyshir Medical Centre. This post will be 21 hours per week, 8.30 - 4pm. Monday, Tuesday and Friday. TERM TIME ONLY.
The post holder will be a key facilitator for the delivery of the Designed to Smile Supervised Toothbrushing programme and Fluoride Varnish programme. To provide comprehensive oral health promotion training for a range of education and healthcare professionals and community groups and individuals across Cwm Taf Morgannwg UHB.
To contribute to and advise on the development and implementation of oral/public health improvement programmes with stakeholders in health and education.
To apply fluoride varnish in non-clinical settings. The role will include working autonomously to deliver the WHC (2017) Number 23 Refocusing of the Designed to Smile child oral health improvement programme.
The post holder will be expected to collect and evaluate data, and have a sound understanding of population health programmes and dental epidemiology and it’s role in health improvement.
You will be required to travel between sites, and will be required to drive CTMUHB vehicles.
- To be aware of National and Local oral health data and programmes and resources to address inequalities in oral health.
- To support and deliver ‘Designed to Smile’ Oral Health Improvement Programme in schools and pre-school settings in line with WHC (2017) Number 23 Refocusing of the Designed to Smile child oral health improvement programme.
- To plan and deliver oral health training sessions across sites in CTMUHB for multi-agency groups, health and educational professionals. To liaise with external agencies and local authorities.
- To provide in depth/specialist knowledge and advice of oral and public health information to health/education professionals through various forms of teaching, training, assessment and evaluation which contributes to the patient/client care some of which may have learning disabilities, autism and physical disabilities. To be aware of cultural and language differences.
- To work within Welsh Government frameworks regarding oral health, nutritional and educational guidelines, policies and initiatives.
- To participate in regular reviews with your manager and to identify training and development needs and to complete mandatory training as required.
