This is an exciting opportunity to join the Software Engineering team as a Senior Integration Business Systems Analyst, working within the Integrations Team in IT & Digital. Reporting to the Integrations Technical Lead, you will play a critical role in ensuring our systems work seamlessly together, enabling efficient and effective services across the University. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to major transformation programmes that will shape the future of Manchester Metropolitan University.
You will work closely with business stakeholders, suppliers, architects, developers and testers to analyse requirements, define integration solutions and support the delivery of complex change initiatives from discovery through to implementation. You'll be joining a collaborative and supportive team at a time of significant investment and change, where your expertise will directly influence how critical University services are delivered for years to come.
As a Senior Integration Business Systems Analyst, you will:
- Lead the analysis, design and delivery of integrations between enterprise applications, cloud services and third-party solutions.
- Define, document and maintain integration requirements, functional specifications, interface designs and data mappings.
- Work with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into clear, actionable deliverables for technical teams.
- Collaborate with developers, testers, architects and suppliers to ensure solutions meet business needs and are secure, scalable and resilient.
- Analyse system interactions and data flows, identifying opportunities to improve data quality, automation and business processes.
- Ensure requirements are sufficiently detailed and testable, enabling both development and testing teams to deliver effectively.
- Support the selection, configuration and optimisation of integration technologies, APIs and middleware platforms.
- Investigate and help resolve integration issues, coordinating activities across multiple teams where required.
- Conduct impact assessments for system upgrades, enhancements and new implementations, identifying risks and dependencies.
- Ensure integration solutions comply with security, governance, data protection and regulatory requirements.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A degree or professional qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- Significant experience working as a Business Analyst or Senior Business Analyst on complex systems and integration projects.
- Experience gathering, analysing and documenting functional and non-functional requirements.
- Experience creating functional specifications, user stories, acceptance criteria, process maps and data mappings.
- Strong knowledge of Agile delivery approaches and practices.
- Experience using tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps or similar work management platforms.
- Experience working closely with Product Owners and contributing to backlog refinement and prioritisation activities.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence, challenge and build consensus across diverse stakeholder groups.
- Experience presenting proposals, recommendations and options to senior leaders, boards or governance groups.
- Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives and understand dependencies across projects.
- The ability to use data and evidence to support decision-making and drive business improvement.
