Job Title: Data Manager-Data Quality
Salary: The starting salary is £48,995, which includes allowances totalling £3,009.
The salary is broken down as £45,986 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £54,863. Plus, a location allowance of £2,009 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.
Location: London & Hybrid (60% / 3-days per week in office). You can choose a ‘home base’ Met location from: Lambeth, Bromley, Bow, Hendon or Sidcup. We offer the flexibility to work in a Hybrid way, where you can deliver your best, including Working from Home (WFH). Travel across the Met Estate, to attend meetings as required by the business, is expected.

Digital & Innovation Business Group
The Digital & Innovation Business Group brings together technology, the effective use of data, and our capability to deliver change and reform to drive the Met forward: this is central to progressing delivery of New Met for London 2. It includes the Met’s Transformation, Technology, Data and Analytics functions, as well as work underway to make the organisation more productive and efficient (referred to as Productivity & Efficiency or P&E). The Group was created in early 2026 and is led by Marie Heracleous, Chief Digital & Innovation Officer. Job Purpose
The Data Foundations function acts as the custodian of physical and digital data held within the Met. The Met has recently introduced a new crime and intelligence recording system which replacing multiple legacy systems, fundamentally changing the way the Met records, stores, and recalls data. The Data Manager-Data Quality vacancy is an exciting opportunity to influence the way the Met uses the data created to drive operational, tactical and strategic decision making. You will be joining a busy, complex and diverse portfolio of data SME’s and will be expected to actively foster a positive working culture based on trust, inclusivity and a proactive mentality. This is a dynamic role which involves working closely with the Senior Data Manager-Data Quality, teams within DDaT, and across the wider Met. You will act as a change agent, advocating for the effective use of data to meet strategic priorities whilst continually seeking opportunities to innovate. You will be joining a directorate where significant value is placed on your development and where you will have opportunities to learn, grow and progress.
Key Role Responsibilities
The Met Data Quality team plays an invaluable role in the data lifecycle to enable the Met to effectively utilise the data it holds to drive decision-making.
Managing a team of Data Quality Supervisors and Data Quality Assistants.
Supporting the work of your team members recognising and promoting opportunities to develop their skills.
Upholding and improving Data quality standards, providing guidance and supporting frontline officers.
Undertaking interventions to improve compliance where necessary.
Working with the Senior Data Manager-Data Quality to improve understanding of Data Quality requirements and shortfalls to drive data accuracy.
Ongoing development and monitoring of the Data Quality and Integrity Improvement Plan.
Creating reports and dashboards with strong and impactful visuals and insight that are relevant to the business to effectively communicate data analysis results to non-technical stakeholders.
Escalating Data Quality issues to the Senior Data Manager-Data Quality to ensure any identified risks are recorded and can be bought to the attention of the appropriate governance board to enable risk mitigation.
Developing a deep understanding of data quality principles, how these can benefit Policing, evaluating the risk of when these are not in place.
Managing the production of monthly data quality reports, prioritising core operational policing data and national reporting requirements.

This post requires access to the most sensitive intelligence material on a daily basis. Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) Security Check (enhanced) (SC(e)) level before taking up the post.
Working Pattern
Employment: Permanent, Full-Time (36-hours per week)
Hybrid Working available in line with the Metropolitan Police Service hybrid working policy.
You will be expected to work from a Met location for at least three days a week (60% of working time) to support our operational teams and collaborate effectively. For up to two days per week (no more than 40% of working time), you may be permitted to work from home, balancing flexibility with organisational need.

Experience
Proven experience working with police or public sector data, with a strong focus on data quality and governance.
Managing a team of Data professionals, driving both your personal and your team’s learning and development.
Maturing a Data Quality service in a large or complex organisation.
Experience working in an Office 365 environment including SharePoint and PowerApps.
Collaborating with stakeholders, as you will be required to interact with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders in a professional manner.
Proven experience in data analysis role.
Skills
A coaching leadership style, with a focus on maturing the Met Data Quality capability through team development.
Excellent stakeholder engagement skills to lead on discussions with the solution supplier on tech updates to assess impact on data quality.
Proficiency in Power BI and experience of creating reports, dashboards, to effectively communicate data analysis results to non-technical stakeholders.
Offers creative problem-solving and decision making.
Written and verbal communication, with an ability to create briefing papers, reports, and presentations as necessary.
Ability to manage and prioritise work, meeting required key performance indicators.
Ability to work proactively and flexibly to support organisational needs and business requirements.
A positive, proactive attitude towards change and improvement.
Knowledge
End-to-end Data lifecycle, including the management and analysis of Data.
Data Quality principles and standards and the consequences of not following them.
Ethical considerations of Data usage in Policing.
Legislative acts to evaluate and determine lawful purpose and outcomes in your decision-making.
Desirable Criteria:
Experience of working with policing data. Practitioner level experience of logging, analysing and managing problems independently to identify and implement appropriate solutions.
