Position Summary
We are looking for a motivated individual to join our manufacturing team in a dual role as Assembly Operative / Deputy Value Stream Champion.
This position will be split approximately 70% Assembly Operative duties and 30% Deputy Value Stream Champion responsibilities. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting day-to-day production activities while also helping to lead, coach, and guide team members to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and performance targets.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on manufacturing work and is ready to take on additional team leadership responsibilities.
Your day-to-day
Assembly Operative Responsibilities
- Assemble products efficiently and accurately, following established procedures, work instructions, and quality standards.
- Continuously monitor work to ensure all manufactured products meet required quality specifications.
- Remain productive by working on machines or within the value stream in line with current duties.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment in accordance with 5S standards.
- Use all required personal protective equipment and follow health, safety, and environmental policies at all times.
- Ensure smooth shift handovers to support continuous and effective manufacturing operations.
- Support team development by helping to train new operators to ensure adherence to standard work instructions.
- Actively participate in problem-solving activities and continuous improvement initiatives.
Deputy Value Stream Champion Responsibilities
- Ensure the safety of all team members remains paramount at all times, including reporting near misses, hazards, and accidents.
- Use day-by-the-hour boards to support value streams in achieving production targets.
- Lead regular HPT meetings with teams and ensure HPT boards are kept up to date.
- Help exceed customer expectations by ensuring no late orders are left within the value stream.
- Deputise for other Deputy Value Stream Champions or Value Stream Champions as required.
- Escalate issues to the Value Stream Champion, Value Stream Manager, or Division Operations Manager when necessary.
What we are looking for
- Previous experience assembling small parts within a manufacturing or production environment.
- Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and quality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to lead and inspire teams through coaching and utilising our HPT structure.
- Able to demonstrate effective communication skills at all levels within the plant.
- Experience supporting continuous improvement activities, such as safety, quality, productivity, or cost-reduction initiatives.
What we offer
- Annual salary depending on experience.
- Additional Responsibility Payment of £3,500 per annum for deputy VSC responsibilities.
- Annual Cash Incentive Plan: 5% bonus opportunity (minimum pay out of 2.5%).
- Pension: Employee contribution between 3% and 7% with Parker then contributing between 6% and 10%.
- Holidays: 25 days, increasing with length of service plus bank holidays.
