Driver Requirements
- Full UK driving licence with the appropriate entitlement for the vehicle.
- Minimum 5 years of driving experience preferred.
- Previous courier, delivery or multi-drop experience preferred.
- Reliable and punctual with excellent timekeeping.
- Professional, presentable and polite manner.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Able to work independently and manage a delivery route efficiently.
- Physically fit and able to load, unload and handle parcels safely.
- Good knowledge of road safety and responsible driving.
- Able to use a smartphone and delivery/scanning technology.
- Comfortable working to strict delivery schedules and performance targets.
- Must follow DHL and Scott & Ryan Logistics procedures and health & safety requirements.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Must have a positive attitude and be willing to work as part of a professional team.
Duties
- Safely operate delivery vehicles to transport packages across designated routes, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Load and unload parcels with care, including heavy lifting when necessary, ensuring items are secure during transit
- Verify delivery addresses and obtain signatures or proof of delivery from recipients to confirm successful drop-offs
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers to coordinate deliveries and resolve any issues promptly
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections to maintain safety standards and report any maintenance needs
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, documentation, and inventory records for all shipments handled
- Provide excellent customer service by greeting recipients professionally and addressing any questions or concerns
Experience
- Previous experience as a delivery driver or courier is highly preferred, demonstrating familiarity with navigation and route planning
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is a plus but not mandatory
- Experience in warehouse operations or logistics can be advantageous for understanding package handling procedures
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently as part of daily tasks
- Strong communication skills to interact confidently with customers, team members, and dispatch personnel
- Knowledge of local traffic laws and safe driving practices essential for this role
Pay: £100.00-£180.00 per day
