The Spice Shop Brighton is a brightly coloured, aromatic shop situated in the heart of Brighton's vibrant North Laine. We specialize in hand made spice blends and an extensive array of herbs and spices, not to mention the increasing demand for Hot Sauces and many other condiments. We are well known for our quality and huge range of choice, everything is sourced by us from around the world and blended and packaged here on site. Our family business has been supplying customers from across the globe for 30+ years and we have been in our Brighton location for over 12years.
We are looking for a strong assistant to support the existing team in our Brighton location. As we develop our warehouse we need someone who is able to lift sacks around 25kg, involving stairs.
This is a part time position for 3 days a week, both Saturday 10 - 6 and Sundays 11 - 4 and another weekday 10-6 we are flexible with what day depending on the right person. Also depending on a suitable candidate there is the option of working more hours, covering on other days of the week and during busy periods.
We do not expect you to be an expert in spices - that knowledge will come in time if you are passionate about food and enjoy cooking. Ideally we would like this person to be enthusiastic about learning and enjoying talking about cooking and hot sauce.
The role requires excellent communication skills, cash handling and great customer service. Alongside your duties on the shop floor, you will also be checking and processing deliveries, packing and labelling spices, restocking and keeping the storage area clean and tidy. Along with warehouse duties including regular heavy lifting.
Duties include
- - Dealing with customers in a friendly and helpful manner
- - Setting up and closing shop at the beginning and end of day
- - Labelling spices
- - Packing spices - ability to count backwards / weight deduction when packing - we will teach this
- - Cleaning throughout the shop
- - Dealing with regular deliveries, which can include lifting and carrying heavy boxes and sacks (up to 25kg)
- - warehouse organisation
- - Restocking
