We are seeking a skilled Vehicle Technician / Car Mechanic to join our independent workshop team in Caversham, Reading. Operating for over 40 years as a respected family-run specialist for premium German brands, we offer a £35,000–£40,000 basic salary, permanent Monday-to-Friday hours (08:00–17:30, strictly no weekends), and an environment built on technical excellence rather than main-dealer targets.

As a vital Vehicle Technician / Car Mechanic in our Reading workshop, you will:
- Perform mechanical maintenance, including complex servicing, timing belts (cambelts), timing chains, and gearbox repairs.

Carry out scheduled servicing, routine maintenance, and digital service book updates to strict standards.

Utilize specialized diagnostic software to systematically troubleshoot, isolate, and repair electrical and mechanical faults.

Execute high-quality repairs on braking, steering, and suspension systems while maintaining clean, efficient workflow.
- Qualifications & Experience: NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 (or City & Guilds / time-served equivalent) in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair. Proven experience with timing chains, timing belts, and gearbox overhauls/repairs is strongly preferred. Experience with German marques (BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, VW) is highly desirable. F-Gas certification is preferred.

Licensing: A full UK driving licence is essential. An active MOT Tester licence is preferred but not required.

Equipment: Must possess your own hand tools for daily workshop repair tasks.
