Job Overview:
We are looking for an experienced and passionate Nursery Manager to lead an exciting independent start-up nursery in Cheltenham. This is a unique opportunity for someone who wants to play a key role in shaping a nursery from the ground up and truly make the role their own.
The successful candidate will be responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, and inspiring environment for children, while building a strong team culture and maintaining the highest standards of care and education.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day running of the nursery
- Lead, motivate, and support the nursery team
- Ensure full compliance with EYFS and safeguarding requirements
- Develop and maintain high-quality learning environments and experiences
- Build strong relationships with parents, carers, and the wider community
- Prepare for and manage Ofsted inspections confidently
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and staff development
- Monitor occupancy, staffing ratios, and operational standards
- Implement policies and procedures in line with current legislation
- Drive continuous improvement across all areas of the nursery
Requirements
- Minimum Level 3 qualification in Childcare or Early Years
- Previous experience in a Nursery Manager, Deputy Manager, or senior leadership role
- Strong knowledge of the EYFS framework
- Excellent understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
- Experience supporting or leading Ofsted inspections
- Strong leadership and organisational skills
- Passion for delivering outstanding childcare and early education
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience working within an independent or start-up nursery setting
- Knowledge and experience using Tapestry
- Experience in staff recruitment and mentoring
- Confidence in building strong parent partnerships
- Basic budgeting and financial management experience
- Ability to contribute ideas and help shape nursery policies and procedures
