Reporting into the UK Defence Quality team, the FAIR Inspector will support the delivery of critical UK Defence programmes by carrying out inspection and First Article Inspection Report (FAIR) activities across a range of manufactured products and assemblies.
The role is responsible for ensuring products meet engineering, quality, and customer requirements through dimensional inspection, documentation review, and FAIR completion in accordance with AS9102 requirements.
This position would suit an experienced Quality Inspector with strong drawing interpretation skills, experience of dimensional inspection, and a keen eye for detail.
The role is based at our Rugby (Warwickshire) facility.

The successful candidate will work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to carry out inspection activities, verify product conformity, and ensure quality requirements are met throughout the manufacturing process.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Perform First Article Inspections in accordance with AS9102 and customer requirements.

Complete and validate FAIR documentation for manufactured products and assemblies.

Review engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.

Conduct first-off, in-process, and final inspections.

Verify product conformity against drawings and customer requirements.

Use precision measuring equipment including Faro Arms, micrometers, calipers, height gauges, shadow graphs, and other inspection equipment.

Review material certifications, process certifications, and manufacturing records.

Ensure inspection results are accurately recorded and maintained.

Support investigations into non-conforming products and quality issues.

Work collaboratively with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to resolve inspection-related issues.

Support continuous improvement activities within the Quality function.
Required Qualifications and Experience

Apprenticeship, HNC/HND, or equivalent experience in Engineering, Manufacturing, Inspection, or Quality.

Experience working within a manufacturing inspection or quality environment.

Experience completing or supporting First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs).

Knowledge of AS9102 First Article Inspection requirements.

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, specifications, and technical documentation.

Experience using precision measuring equipment and dimensional inspection techniques.

Strong attention to detail and record-keeping skills.
Desirable Experience

Experience within Defence, Aerospace, Nuclear, Power Generation, or other highly regulated industries.

Experience operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) and PC-DMIS software.

Experience using IDEAGEN FAIR software.

Knowledge of welding, fabrication, and assembly inspection activities.

Knowledge of ISO 9001 or AS9100 Quality Management Systems.

Understanding of Lean and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
Security Clearance Requirements
This role supports UK Defence programmes and is therefore subject to UK Security Clearance requirements.
The successful candidate must be eligible to obtain and maintain the appropriate level of UK Security Clearance. Support will be provided for candidates requiring clearance sponsorship.
Due to the nature of the work and applicable export control regulations, applicants must be either a UK National; or a Dual National from a country approved under applicable UK Defence and ITAR regulations.
The successful candidate must be able to obtain and maintain the required security clearance throughout their employment.
