The Longs – Steeple Ashton, Wiltshire
The Longs is looking for a confident, friendly and experienced Front of House Supervisor to join our team in the beautiful village of Steeple Ashton.
We are a busy village pub and restaurant focused on excellent food, welcoming service and creating a relaxed environment for our guests. We are looking for someone who enjoys hospitality, leads by example and can help deliver consistently high standards across every service.
The role
As Front of House Supervisor, you will support the management team with the day-to-day running of The Longs and take responsibility for leading the team during service.
This is a hands-on position suited to someone who is comfortable serving guests, supporting colleagues and making confident decisions when managing a shift.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading the front-of-house team during restaurant and bar service
- Creating a warm, professional and welcoming experience for every guest
- Allocating sections and organising the team before each service
- Delivering pre-service briefings and communicating menu changes
- Supporting and motivating team members throughout their shifts
- Training new employees and helping maintain service standards
- Taking food and drink orders and providing knowledgeable recommendations
- Handling guest feedback and resolving issues calmly and professionally
- Working closely with the kitchen to ensure smooth and efficient service
- Managing bookings, table plans and guest requests
- Completing opening and closing procedures
- Handling cash, card payments and end-of-shift reconciliation
- Monitoring cleanliness, presentation and stock levels throughout the venue
- Ensuring licensing, food safety and health and safety procedures are followed
- Supporting private events and busy seasonal services
About you
We are looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience in hospitality, ideally within a pub or restaurant
- Has supervisory experience or is ready to take the next step into a leadership role
- Is confident leading a team and taking responsibility for a shift
- Is friendly, approachable and genuinely enjoys looking after guests
- Remains calm, organised and positive during busy services
- Communicates clearly with both front-of-house and kitchen teams
- Has good knowledge of food, wine, beer and spirits, or is keen to learn
- Is reliable, punctual and takes pride in maintaining high standards
- Is available to work a mixture of daytime, evening and weekend shifts
- Can reliably travel to and from Steeple Ashton
