Finance Assistant
Based at our main site on Castleham Industrial Estate in Hastings, this role reports to the Finance Manager working in close knit team. This is a fantastic opportunity for those looking to gain experience as a Finance Assistant. This role is permanent, working 35 hours per week.
What are the main duties of this role?
· Support with maintaining Sales Ledger to include invoice processing, cash allocation and debt recovery.
· Support with processing customer debit and credit notes including investigations of shortages.
· Support with ensuring debtor days are kept to a minimum, with all debts followed up and resolutions found.
· Adhere to KPI’s and targets set on a regular basis and take action to improve performance of the function.
· Support with liaising with customers and other departments within the business to ensure queries are resolved on a timely basis.
· Be able to support with performing Statement, Bank and Cash reconciliations.
· Assist and cover the administration of rebates, discounts, and customer reports.
· Basic Administration including updating and maintaining of procedural documentation.
· Provide ad hoc support to the accounting function for processing and analysis of accounting entries.
What we are looking for:

· Proficient in IT tools, including computers, email, and telephone systems
Nice to have (not essential):
· Experience in customer credit management systems and the maintenance of Customers within agreed operational limits
· Experience of spreadsheets, word and general windows-based software systems
· Experience in communication with, actioning and responding to customer/supplier queries via phone, e-mail and written format.
· Awareness of accounting processes, including double entry booking, sales ordering, purchasing and stock management systems.
· Experience in handling large volumes of data in a time pressured environment to a high level of accuracy.
· Basic understanding of VAT legislation.
