Job Purpose:
Big Motoring World Group is an expanding car supermarket group that is going from strength to strength and is looking to employ a Maintenance Engineer. As a Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining and supporting the smooth operation of all our equipment and site. You will develop and implement maintenance plans, ensure machinery is functioning safely and efficiently, and respond to daily operational issues, including emergency repairs. Basic motor industry knowledge and engineering skills are essential.
Shift Pattern: Monday – Friday 40 hours p/w
Key Responsibilities:
- Previous maintenance experience within the motor industry or similar environment preferred.
- Ensure all work is undertaken to a high-quality standard and adheres to all quality standard regulations
- Respond promptly to maintenance-related requests from management and staff.
- Inspect and identify issues with buildings, fixtures, and equipment and report hazards, defects, or unsafe conditions immediately.
- Conduct regular inspections and quality checks to identify potential issues before they escalate.
- Assist with emergency situations such as leaks, electrical issues, or equipment failures.
- Perform minor repairs including basic plumbing, joinery, painting, electrical work, carpentry, or general DIY.
- Ability to conduct basic welding tasks.
- Support with the servicing and upkeep of machinery, tools, and site utilities.
- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across the site and keep accurate maintenance logs, records, and documentation.
- Support with upkeep of outdoor areas, including pathways, loading bays, and car parks.
- Assist external contractors when required and ensure safe working practices are followed.
- Set up and move equipment, furniture, or materials as needed.
- Undertake special projects as required.
- Travel to other sites may be required (Leeds, Cannock and Sheffield)
- Plant maintenance including weeding.
- Hedge trimming.
- PAT Testing.
- Ensure that all machinery and equipment is used of a safe standard, and any malfunctions/missing components are immediately reported.
- Completion of work arising from daily action lists to agreed time and priority.
- To take personal responsibility for their own and others safety through safe working practices.
- Reporting of defects with tools and equipment to management.
- Maintain good standards of housekeeping leaving all working areas clean and tidy.
- Adhering to all site policies.
- Conducting appropriate checks on machinery/equipment.
- Liaising with the management team to support continuous improvement.
- Responsible for care of tools and equipment used.
- To conduct any other reasonable duties as requested.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, plumbing, and mechanical issues.
- Experience in general maintenance and repairs.
- Strong work ethic and a willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- IPAF licence an advantage.
- Please note that a clean driving licence is required for this role
