Pay: £126 – £129 per day, dependent on experience

A highly regarded further education college based in Huntingdon (Cambridge) is seeking to appoint an experienced Learning Support Mentor – Health & Personal Care to join its dedicated student support team from 26th August. This is a full-time temporary position for at least one academic term, with the potential for the role to continue depending on the needs of the college.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Learning Support Mentor who enjoys working directly with young people and wants to make a genuine difference to their educational experience, personal development and future progression.
The Role – Learning Support Mentor – Health & Personal Care
As a Learning Support Mentor, you will provide high-quality, individualised support to students studying within Health and Personal Care-related programmes. You will work closely with teaching staff and other members of the support team to help students overcome barriers to learning and make meaningful progress.
The successful Learning Support Mentor will be responsible for:
· Providing one-to-one and small-group support to students in classroom and practical learning environments
· Supporting students to develop their confidence, independence and communication skills
· Supporting students who may have additional learning needs, disabilities or barriers to education
· Building positive and professional relationships with students and encouraging their participation and engagement
· Working alongside lecturers and other professionals to ensure students receive appropriate and consistent support
· Helping students develop the skills required for employment, further study and independent living
· Monitoring student progress and providing feedback to teaching and support colleagues
· Promoting a positive, inclusive and supportive learning environment
· Encouraging students to become as independent as possible while providing appropriate levels of assistance
About You
We are looking for an experienced Learning Support Mentor who is confident working with young people and understands how to provide effective support in an educational environment.
You may have experience working as a Learning Support Assistant, Learning Support Mentor, Teaching Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant, Health & Social Care Support Worker, Personal Care Assistant, Care Worker or similar.
Experience of supporting students or young people within Health & Social Care, Personal Care, SEN, further education or a related setting would be highly desirable.
The successful Learning Support Mentor will ideally have:
· Previous experience supporting young people in an education, care or support setting
· An understanding of Health & Social Care and/or Personal Care
· Experience supporting individuals with additional needs or barriers to learning
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
· A patient, calm and encouraging approach
· The ability to build strong professional relationships with students
· The confidence to work independently as well as as part of a wider team
· A genuine commitment to equality, inclusion and student achievement
· The ability to encourage independence while providing appropriate practical support
