We are seeking an experienced Senior IT Security Consultant to join our cybersecurity team based in Westcliff On Sea. This is an excellent opportunity for a security professional who is passionate about protecting business critical systems, advising stakeholders on cyber risk, and delivering practical security solutions across modern technology environments.
As a Senior IT Security Consultant, you will work closely with business leaders, technical teams, and clients to strengthen security controls, improve resilience, and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. This role is suited to someone who combines strong technical expertise with excellent communication and problem solving skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive security assessments, technical reviews, and cyber risk evaluations.
- Advise stakeholders on information security strategy, governance, and risk management.
- Identify security vulnerabilities and develop practical remediation plans.
- Support the design and implementation of secure cloud, network, and infrastructure solutions.
- Lead security assurance activities across business and technology projects.
- Develop and maintain information security policies, standards, and operational procedures.
- Perform security audits and support compliance with recognised security frameworks.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, software development, and operations teams to strengthen security controls.
- Support incident response activities, security investigations, and root cause analysis.
- Deliver security awareness guidance and technical recommendations to internal teams.
- Monitor emerging cyber threats and recommend improvements to the organisation's security posture.
- Produce clear technical reports, risk assessments, and security documentation.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Senior IT Security Consultant, Information Security Consultant, Cyber Security Consultant, or a similar senior level role.
- Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles, risk management, and security governance.
- Experience securing cloud environments including Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Strong understanding of network security, endpoint protection, identity and access management, and vulnerability management.
- Experience performing security assessments, penetration review coordination, and compliance audits.
- Working knowledge of recognised security frameworks such as ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials, NIST, CIS Controls, or similar standards.
- Experience supporting security incident response and business continuity planning.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CCSP, CompTIA Security+, or equivalent are highly desirable.
