Fire & Security Engineer
Location: Plymouth & Torbay, with occasional work in Cornwall
Salary: £20 per hour
Hours: Monday–Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm
On-Call: Approximately 1 in 2 or 1 in 3 rota
Company Vehicle: Provided
Equipment: Company mobile phone and hand tools provided
About the Role
We are looking for a Fire & Security Engineer to join our growing team, carrying out service, maintenance, repairs and installations across a range of commercial sites.
The role is approximately 80% fire and 20% security, making it ideal for an engineer with strong fire alarm experience who also has knowledge of security systems.
You will work across Plymouth, Torbay and occasionally Cornwall, visiting a variety of commercial premises including hotels, doctors' surgeries, dental practices and care homes.
Key Responsibilities
- Service, maintain and install fire alarm and security systems.
- Carry out planned servicing and maintenance visits.
- Diagnose and repair faults identified during service visits.
- Attend reactive fault calls and carry out repairs efficiently.
- Work with both wireless and conventional systems.
- Install, service and maintain fire alarm systems.
- Install, service and maintain intruder alarm systems.
- Complete service and maintenance work to a high standard.
- Communicate professionally with customers and provide clear explanations of work carried out.
- Complete approximately 3–4 days of service and maintenance work each week.
- Participate in the out-of-hours on-call rota.

The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for an experienced and reliable engineer who:
- Has experience working with fire alarm systems.
- Has experience in servicing, fault finding and installation.
- Has knowledge of intruder/security alarm systems.
- Is comfortable working on both wireless and conventional systems.
- Can diagnose faults and carry out effective repairs.
- Has good communication and customer service skills.
- Is organised, professional and able to work independently.
- Holds a full UK driving licence.
- Is willing to participate in an on-call rota.
