Technical Support Engineer - Fire & Security

Think Recruitment are working with a well-established specialist fire protection business that manufactures and installs fire doors, to recruit a Technical Support Engineer to join their growing team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a
fire safety and technical background, particularly experience with
Fire Risk Assessments (FRA), electrical systems and fire alarm systems, who is looking to take their career into a varied technical support role.
The successful candidate will provide technical, operational, and administrative support across the company's installation, servicing, commissioning, and aftercare functions.
You will act as a key point of contact for engineers, Project Managers, customers, and internal teams, helping to diagnose technical issues, coordinate information, and ensure projects and service activities are delivered efficiently and to a high standard.

The Role
As a Technical Support Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

Acting as the first point of contact for technical and engineering support queries.

Providing technical guidance to engineers, Project Managers, and customers.

Supporting the diagnosis and resolution of technical faults.

Reviewing and interpreting Fire Risk Assessments (FRA) and associated technical information.

Providing support relating to fire alarm systems and electrical installations.

Assisting with the identification of parts, components, and replacement requirements.

Supporting engineers with technical queries during installation, servicing, commissioning, and aftercare.

Escalating complex technical issues to senior engineering teams where required.

Supporting the planning and coordination of service activities.

Maintaining accurate technical records, databases, and documentation.

Reviewing service reports and technical information for accuracy and completeness.

Supporting compliance and quality assurance activities.

Assisting with technical investigations, defects, customer concerns, and non-conformances.

Responding to customer technical queries in a professional and timely manner.

Assisting with technical reviews, quotations, and service recommendations.

Helping develop technical guidance, procedures, and knowledge-base information.

Identifying opportunities to improve service delivery and engineer efficiency.
About You
The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background within the
fire protection, fire safety, electrical, or building services sector.
Experience with
Fire Risk Assessments (FRA), fire alarm systems, and electrical systems is highly desirable and will be a key part of the role.
You will ideally have:

Previous experience in a technical support, engineering, fire safety, electrical, or similar role.

Experience or strong knowledge of Fire Risk Assessments (FRA).

Experience working with or supporting fire alarm systems.

A good understanding of electrical systems and installations.

Strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.

The ability to understand and interpret technical information and documentation.

Excellent attention to detail.

Strong communication and customer service skills.

Good IT and administrative skills.

The ability to work with engineers, customers, Project Managers, and other stakeholders.

A proactive approach with the ability to take ownership and responsibility.
Experience within
fire doors, passive fire protection, fire safety, or associated compliance requirements would also be advantageous.
