As the Head Door Supervisor of a vibrant nightclub, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of patrons and staff, maintaining order, and upholding the venue's policies and regulations. You will lead a team of door supervisors, providing guidance, training, and support to maintain a welcoming and secure atmosphere. Additionally, you will oversee the creation and confirmation of staff rotas to ensure adequate coverage for all shifts.
Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Lead and manage a team of door supervisors, ensuring they are properly trained, motivated, and equipped to carry out their duties effectively.
- Security Oversight: Oversee all security operations at the entrance and within the venue, including crowd control, ID checks, bag searches, and the prevention of prohibited items from entering the premises.
- Customer Service: Ensure a high level of customer service is maintained at all times, handling customer inquiries, complaints, and conflicts professionally and efficiently.
- Policy Enforcement: Enforce venue policies, including dress codes, age restrictions, and behaviour standards, consistently and fairly.
- Rota Management: Create and maintain staff rotas, ensuring that shifts are adequately staffed to meet operational needs whilst in communication with management.
- Confirmation of Rotas: Confirm staff availability and finalize rotas in a timely manner, communicating any changes or updates to the team as necessary.
- Emergency Response: Be prepared to handle emergencies and crises effectively, including medical incidents, disturbances, and evacuations, coordinating with relevant authorities as necessary.
- Risk Assessment: Conduct regular risk assessments of the venue and surrounding areas to identify potential security threats and implement appropriate measures to mitigate risks.
- Training and Development: Provide ongoing training and development opportunities for door supervisors, keeping them informed of industry best practices, legal requirements, and venue-specific policies.
- Communication: Maintain effective communication channels with management, staff, and external stakeholders, keeping them informed of security-related issues and developments.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and licensing requirements governing nightclub operations and security practices.
- Documentation: Keep accurate records of incidents, interventions, and any other relevant information, maintaining confidentiality and privacy as required.
Hours of Work:
The normal hours of work for this role are 22:00pm to 04:00am on scheduled operating nights.
As this position is within the licensed venue sector, the successful candidate will be expected to work evenings, weekends, bank holidays and other peak trading periods as required by the business.
The Head Door Supervisor must be flexible in their approach to working hours and may occasionally be required to attend management meetings, training sessions, staff briefings or remain on site beyond normal finishing times to complete operational duties, incident reporting or venue close-down procedures.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in security management, preferably in a nightclub or similar entertainment venue.
- Hold a valid SIA Door Supervisor license or equivalent certification.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patrons and staff from various backgrounds.
- Sound judgment and decision-making abilities, particularly in high-pressure situations.
- Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards pertaining to nightclub security.
- Physical fitness and the ability to work long hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- First Aid/CPR certification and training in conflict resolution techniques are desirable.
