Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Cleaner Customer Service Operative to join our established and hard working team at Burnley Bus Station!
The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering high standards of cleanliness in a public transportation environment - contributing to a safe, hygienic and welcoming space for passengers, public and staff.

Responsibilities:
- Perform routine cleaning tasks including sweeping, wiping, mopping and use of floor cleaning equipment
- Clean and disinfect restrooms, canteen, and communal areas
- Empty bins and dispose of waste routinely
- Wiping and disinfecting hard surfaces
- Glass cleaning
- Gritting (during winter)
- Maintain cleaning equipment and supplies, ensuring they are stored safely and used correctly in line with COSHH
- Ad hoc tasks at the direction of management
- Report any maintenance issues, security matters or hazards identified during cleaning duties to management promptly
- Deal with any enquiries from passengers or members of the public in a professional and helpful manner
- Follow health and safety protocols at all times to minimise risks in the workplace
- Adhere to organisational policies
Qualifications/Skills:
Essential:
- Previous cleaning experience in a high footfall public environment.
- Basic IT skills, including phone app usage
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on thoroughness and quality of work
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision whilst maintaining high standards of cleanliness
- Being reactive and proactive to cleaning requirements, either ad-hoc or routine.
- Must be confident, willing and able to undertake opening/closing the station upon request
- Must be flexible
- A positive attitude and a professional approach towards the Bus Station, passenger, public, staff and operators
- Excellent customer service skills and being able to deal with a diverse range of people.
- Good organisational skills and reliability are essential for timely completion of tasks
Desirable:
- COSHH qualifications
- Cleaning Qualifications (BISCs)
- Previous experience in public transportation site cleaning
- Previous experience in a clinical cleaning environment
- SIA Licence (SG/DS)
Typical Hours / Working Week:
- 16 hours
- Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
