About the Team
Our High Value Relationships team is responsible for securing significant investment from trusts, foundations, major donors and other high-value supporters. Collaboration sits at the heart of everything we do, and you'll work closely with colleagues across fundraising, services, policy and impact to develop innovative and evidence-led funding opportunities.

About the Role
As Senior Trusts & Statutory Fundraising Manager, you'll take ownership of a portfolio of key funders and lead the development of major funding opportunities worth five, six and seven figures.
You'll be responsible for identifying and securing new funding partnerships, stewarding existing supporters and developing compelling cases for support that demonstrate Mencap's impact. You'll use your excellent relationship-building skills, strategic thinking and fundraising expertise to drive income growth and strengthen engagement across our trusts and foundations portfolio.
This is a senior specialist fundraising position and does not currently include line management responsibility.
This role will be hybrid, with on-site presence one day a week from our London Offices, and regular travel around London and nationally to meet with stakeholders/donors.
What You'll Be Doing
Building Strategic Funding Partnerships
- Develop and manage a portfolio of significant trusts, foundations and statutory funders.
- Build strong relationships with decision-makers, trustees and key influencers.
- Develop long-term engagement plans to secure repeat and multi-year funding.
- Identify and progress transformational funding opportunities.
- Represent Mencap confidently with funders and external stakeholders.
Leading Major Funding Opportunities
- Develop and lead high-value funding opportunities, including five, six and seven-figure applications.
- Create compelling funding propositions aligned to both funder interests and Mencap's strategic goals.
- Lead complex applications, presentations, assessments and due diligence processes.
- Work collaboratively across the organisation to develop strong, evidence-led cases for support.
- Explore innovative approaches that respond to emerging funding trends and priorities.
Strengthening Stewardship and Funder Engagement
- Deliver exceptional stewardship for key supporters.
- Develop meaningful engagement opportunities and partnership experiences.
- Produce high-quality reports and communications that demonstrate impact.
- Identify opportunities to deepen relationships and secure ongoing investment.
Providing Strategic Insight
- Monitor trends within the trusts and foundations sector.
- Contribute to strategic funding plans and pipeline development.
- Share fundraising intelligence, insights and best practice across the wider team.
- Support collaborative and partnership funding opportunities where appropriate.
Driving Excellence Across the Team
- Act as a senior fundraising specialist within the Trusts & Foundations team.
- Contribute to a culture of learning, collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Work closely with colleagues across High Value Fundraising to maximise opportunities and deliver shared success.
Managing Data and Pipelines
- Maintain accurate funding pipelines, forecasts and relationship activity using Salesforce.
- Use data and insight to prioritise opportunities and inform decision-making.
- Support strong portfolio management practices and opportunity tracking.
Ensure accurate reporting and visibility of key funding relationships.

Essential Requirements for the role
- Proven success securing and managing significant five and six-figure grants.
- Strong experience developing and managing strategic and long-term funder relationships.
- Experience leading complex funding opportunities from prospect stage through to stewardship and renewal.
- Strong proposition development and bid leadership skills.
- Ability to identify and develop opportunities for long-term partnership growth.
- Strong understanding of the UK trusts and foundations funding landscape and emerging funding trends.
- Experience working across complex organisations and influencing a wide range of stakeholders.
- Strong strategic thinking, planning and prioritisation skills.
- Experience using CRM systems, ideally Salesforce, to manage pipelines, relationships and forecasting.
- Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
- Strong relationship-building and influencing skills, with the confidence to engage senior stakeholders internally and externally.
- Ability to work proactively, think creatively and drive opportunities forward with pace and focus.
- Experience working collaboratively and sharing knowledge across teams.
