Quest Joinery Limited is an established and rapidly expanding company delivering bespoke joinery and carpentry solutions to both commercial and private clients. Our purpose-built workshop is based in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire.
We are looking to expand our workforce and are seeking a Trainee Estimator to join our dynamic team. Working alongside experienced members of the commercial and estimating team, the successful candidate will receive ongoing training and support while gaining valuable industry experience.

The Role
As a Trainee Estimator, you will assist the estimating team in preparing accurate and competitive tender submissions while developing your technical and commercial knowledge of the industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of estimates and tender submissions.
- Learn the estimating process from reviewing drawings and specifications through to submitting completed tenders.
- Assist with printing and reviewing drawings, take-offs, and tender documentation.
- Help raise tender queries and gather information required to complete quotations.
- Maintain and update estimating registers and tracking dashboards.
- Support the team in monitoring tender opportunities and workload pipelines.
- Follow up submitted quotations and assist with recording outcomes.
- Help maintain and update the estimating database, rates, and supplier information.
- Assist with pricing variations and additional works.
- Build positive relationships with clients, suppliers, and colleagues.
- Support business development activities and identify potential opportunities for new work.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the department.
- Undertake training and development activities to progress within the role.

- Ability to read technical drawings is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided.

Qualifications
Essential
- GCSEs (or equivalent) including Mathematics and English.
Desirable
- A Levels, BTEC, HNC/HND, Degree, or other higher education qualification in Construction, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Business, or a related discipline.
- Previous experience within construction, manufacturing, joinery, or an office-based role would be advantageous but is not essential.
