We’re on a mission to teach creative and inspiring piano lessons so that our students learn to play the music they love! Our lessons provide musicians of all ages and stages with the environment they need to thrive musically. We prioritise the teaching of improvisation, composition and pop music alongside technique, theory and notation.
We’re looking to grow our team with people who are excited to grow as musicians and discover new ways of teaching. The role involves planning and delivering high quality piano lessons to students of all ages and abilities. The job will appeal to proficient pianists who are energetic, creative and passionate about impacting the future of instrumental teaching.
Main responsibilities of the job
- Planning and delivery of high-quality lessons to individual piano students of all ages / abilities, including both classical and popular music as appropriate
- Development of personal playing and teaching skills
- Involvement in developing innovative curriculum and resources in collaboration with management and other teaching staff
- Applicants must be able to work weekday evenings and Saturdays
Essential skills / qualifications include:
- A high standard of piano playing (Grade 8 equivalent or above)
- Good communication skills, in both spoken and written English
- The ability to work in a team
- A warm and engaging personality, and a desire to work with young children
Preferred skills / qualifications include:
- Music degree or Music diploma
- Experience in performing a variety of musical styles (including contemporary styles such as pop)
- Teaching experience
- Experience working with children ages 4 and above
- A clean driving license and access to a car
Previous experience in piano / music teaching is preferred but not necessary as support and mentoring will be provided. Applicants must be willing to develop as teachers, undergo training and, where appropriate, work towards gaining qualifications. Applicants must also be willing to undergo appropriate DBS checks.
