Our Lady's Care Home (Belfast) is currently recruiting for a Relief Housekeeping & Kitchen Assistant. In this varied role, you will support both the housekeeping and kitchen teams, helping to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment while assisting with the preparation and service of nutritious meals for our residents. You will work to high standards of cleanliness, food hygiene, and health and safety, ensuring residents receive the highest quality of care and service.
About The Role
Key Responsibilities:

Support both the housekeeping and kitchen teams as required.

Assist with the preparation of meals as directed by the Chef or Kitchen Supervisor.

Prepare basic food items such as salads, sandwiches, and soups.
-
Help serve meals to residents, ensuring dietary requirements are followed.

Carry out daily housekeeping duties, including dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, sanitising, and cleaning resident rooms and communal areas.

Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and infection control throughout the home.

Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces and replenish cleaning and hygiene supplies where required.

Follow food safety, health and safety, COSHH, and infection prevention procedures at all times.

Use kitchen and cleaning equipment safely and report any faults, hazards, or maintenance issues promptly.

Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure the smooth running of both the kitchen and housekeeping departments.
Ideal Candidate:
-
Previous experience in a kitchen, housekeeping, cleaning, or care home environment is desirable but not essential.

A good understanding of food hygiene and cleaning standards.
-
Strong communication skills and the ability to interact respectfully with elderly residents.
-
A positive attitude with a willingness to learn and support different departments.
-
Flexible to work shifts, including weekends and bank holidays, to meet the needs of the service.

Good attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions.
-
Medically fit and able to carry out the physical duties of the role.
