Job Overview
We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Volunteer Gardening and Maintenance Helpers to support our growing spaces and wellbeing projects. Duties
- Assist with planting, pruning, weeding, and general garden upkeep using mostly hand tools.
- Support irrigation tasks, including maintaining watering systems to ensure healthy plant growth.
- Help with the installation and maintenance of landscape features, including pathways, flower beds, and decorative elements.
- Operate various gardening equipment safely and efficiently, adhering to health and safety guidelines. This includes petrol lawn mower.
- Maintain cleanliness of work areas by disposing of garden waste responsibly and ensuring tools are stored correctly and safely.
- Collaborate with team members both staff and other volunteers, to plan seasonal planting schedules and garden improvements.
- Support the organisation of on site open day events by helping us to display the growing spaces at their best to visitors.
Qualifications
- Experience or interest in gardening, horticulture, or landscape maintenance is desirable.
- Familiarity with hand tools, irrigation systems, and some power tools used in gardening tasks and the ability to use equipment safely.
- Basic knowledge of plant care, growing techniques, and sustainable gardening practices is ideal.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions with physical stamina for manual tasks.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to follow instructions carefully.
- A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and team spirit are essential qualities for this role.
