Devon Nursing Homes is looking for an experienced and confident Nursing Manager to support the home through a period of improvement and turnaround.
This role is suitable for a strong clinical leader who has proven experience helping a nursing home move from Requires Improvement to Good and understands what is needed to improve care standards, documentation, staff practice and regulatory compliance.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Home Manager, external consultant, senior team and wider care home staff to drive improvements across the service.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the Home Manager with day-to-day clinical leadership
- Leading improvement work to help the home achieve a Good CQC rating
- Reviewing and improving nursing care standards across the home
- Supporting staff with medication practice, care planning, risk assessments and clinical documentation
- Completing audits and ensuring actions are followed through
- Coaching nurses and care staff to improve confidence, competence and accountability
- Working with the consultant and management team to deliver the home’s improvement plan
- Identifying risks quickly and putting clear actions in place
- Supporting safer admissions, clinical reviews and escalation processes
- Promoting a positive, professional and resident-focused culture
Requirements:
- Registered Nurse with valid NMC PIN
- Previous nursing home management experience
- Proven turnaround experience in a care home or nursing home setting
- Experience improving homes from Requires Improvement to Good
- Strong knowledge of CQC expectations and nursing home compliance
- Excellent medication, care planning and clinical governance knowledge
- Confident leading staff and challenging poor practice where required
- Able to work alongside the Home Manager, consultant and care team in a supportive but firm way
