Workshop Operative
Location: Braintree, Essex
Salary: £25,640 - £26,000 (review after 3 months)
Hours: Monday to Thursday, 6:00am - 4:00pm (4-day working week)
Overtime: Weekdays & Saturdays paid at 1.5x, Sundays at 2x
About the Company
We are recruiting on behalf of a long-established UK engineering manufacturer specialising in precision cast metal products for the engineering, rail and construction sectors.
Operating from a modern purpose-built foundry in Essex, the business manages the entire manufacturing process in-house, from pattern design and 3D prototyping through to casting, finishing and quality testing. Their products can be found in some of the UK's most recognisable transport hubs and architectural landmarks, and they continue to secure long-term contracts alongside bespoke engineering projects.
Following continued growth and investment, they are looking to recruit several Workshop Operatives to join their expanding production team.
About the Role

You'll work as part of a supportive team across various foundry operations, helping to manufacture high-quality engineering products while developing valuable technical skills.
No previous foundry experience is essential - attitude, reliability and a willingness to learn are just as important.
Typical duties include:
- Assisting with casting and production processes
- Fettling and finishing cast components
- Operating cranes and production equipment (full training provided)
- General workshop and housekeeping duties
- Supporting Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
- Maintaining high health and safety standards
What You Will Bring
